The IMU Department of Orthotics Prosthetics is dedicated to training orthotics/prosthetists who can effectively address the needs of a multidisciplinary healthcare system. Orthotics are designed to provide support and protection for extremities, aiding and/or correcting movements in certain diseases, while prosthetics are fabricated to compensate for extremity loss resulting from accidents or diseases. Orthotists/prosthetists are healthcare professionals responsible for determining and designing these devices, as well as overseeing the fabrication process.IMU Department of Orthotics Prosthetics stands as the first institution offering a four-year education program in Turkey, with Turkish as the language of instruction. Establishing rapport with patients and hands-on practice are integral components of the educational curriculum, starting early on and further reinforced through summer clinical placements.Orthotists/prosthetists have a wide range of employment opportunities, including positions at universities, government agencies, private and university hospitals, rehabilitation centers, as well as private and public orthotics and prosthetics workshops. Graduates also have the option to establish their workshops in orthotics and prosthetics. With a master's degree or PhD, they can pursue roles as lecturers in their field.
